“For it hath been signified unto me concerning you, my brethren, by them [that are of the household] of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.Now this I mean, that each one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos: and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you, save Crispus and Gaius;
lest any man should say that ye were baptized into my name. And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void” 1 Corinthians 1:11-17
One of the main problems facing today’s church and believers is division. Division based on denomination, or based on individual leaders. Just like the Corinth
- Why align yourself with human leaders,or with denominations.
- Why exalt dynamic and spiritual charismatic leaders?
- Why allow these mesmerize us, and ignorantly we deify them. We foolishly make them gods, and place our focus on them.
Believers are ready to die defending denominational doctrines or die for their pastors, but not ready to die or defend Christ. Remember the action of Paul and Jesus when people wanted to make them god and king, they resisted them. But today we encourage it.
Listen, Christian leaders and speakers are merely vessels through which God’s word is communicated. Despite their flamboyance, eloquence, sermons and writings, they are still subject to temptation and judgment and may end up in a God forsaken place called hell.
We as believers, must be careful how we identify closely with human leaders, and place much emphasis on them. This is equivalent to idolatry. It is equivalent to having another god apart from the true God.
Our loyalty and identification belong only to Jesus Christ and His message.
Beware of ministers who covet the praises of God.
Beware of those who convert you to denomination, and teach you denominational doctrines over Christ.
My heart bleeds! The messengers have all taken the centre stage and side tracked Christ. They have become superstars, idols and have accepted worship from followers.
This is abomination. Beware of the sin of idolatry and avoid God’s jealousy
THOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER GOD
